Next Impressions?

Postby LeadAsbestos on 20th Jun 07

I'd like to vote for the "Bring out your dead...Games!" contest, suggested on the old forum, where we convert minis for unavailable units for dead games. No IP issues, no hurting small struggling companies, and possibly no entries!

My idea is already on the drawing board, so I'll be ready...

I am still onboard with this one.

I have a game convention to run next month, but after that, I'll have a bit of time to devote to this.

Although I would probably try my hand at that idea, (have some 1999 and Chainmail figures that would be fun to do) it would take many many months for me to find the time to do that much work on a figure (whilst doing my commission work and painting for my own games)

Also I am not sure what level of support there would be for doing something for a "dead game" so it would probably limit the number of entrants.

I would vote for another topic based round so that everyone who wants to join in can do something for a game system that they play regularly. Maybe a command group or a heavy weapon (including large monster types where they are support).

At some stage I would also like to go back to the original idea behind Impressions and have everyone paint the same miniature, just to see the different styles and approaches.

Another idea to throw in for discussion;

How about everyone who enters picks 3 figures they want to paint (new or from their existing unpainted collection) then we all vote on what each other should paint for submission.

I actually really like that!

I am up for either option.

All right. I give in! I'm going to convert a Dreamblade mini into the 1999 Demonic Construct. My minis are on the way (I'm doing a squad of 3), and I'll be doing a step-by-step tutorial/record of my own fumbling incompetence to detail the process. Anyone else up to make this into the Impressions, or should I just do a workbench kinda thing?

Some life around here, please! I'm going through a divorce, a few new, exciting things in my personal life, moving, and raising a 3 yr old, so don't give me the "I'm too busy!" line! Hobby time is all that saves my precious remaining sanity!!!

I could always finish my Pharon God King. (already in pregress, with progress photos taken)

What are you thinking of for a due date?

My problem currently is not so much a lack of hobby time, but a lack of a reliable internet connection. With my latest work assignment, I'm having the shabbiest, slowest and most failure-prone connection I've had in - I don't know, a decade? So expect my posting to be sparse and infrequent for the next six months or so...

That said, I'm slowly getting together all the parts I'd need for my Chronopia Swamp Fiend conversion. Plus, I've gotten a bit better with the greenstuff since working on a project I'm intending to show off here in a bit - but anyway, what I wanted to say is that I'm feeling I'm up to it.

So yeah, let's talk dates...
